Line of Duty fans were left in disbelief as they spotted a post-it note clue which hinted at the real relationship between Jo Davidson and Tommy Hunter.
Sunday’s episode revealed Jo is indeed related to Tommy as the results of her DNA match were announced.
However, some eagle-eyed viewers of the BBC1 drama appeared to look into it further, thanks to a hidden note on the wall.
Some fans claimed police officer Jo is “both his niece and daughter” and gave their theories on why she she got involved with the OCG in the first place.
At the beginning of the episode, Steve Arnott, Ted Hastings and Kate Fleming spoke about the DNA results, with Ted claiming Jo had ‘pulled the wool over her eyes’.
Steve then added how there was ‘homozygosity in their DNA’ – suggesting Jo and Tommy are closely related and there could be incest running in their family.
And it wasn’t long after that fans had spotted a yellow note on the wall which read: “Jo Davidson’s DNA has been identified at Farida Jatri’s house. A match has been made to TOMMY HUNTER, stating she is both his niece and daughter.”
One person defined the term for others, writing: “In case anyone missed the homozygosity reference in @Line_of_duty it basically means Jo Davidson is both Tommy Hunter’s daughter AND niece.”
After the comment went viral, others began explaining their wildest theories.
“So Tommy Hunter most likely raped his sister and that’s what Steve meant about homozygosity. Post it note says Jo is both his niece and daughter,” a fan shared.
While a second added: “Jo says she hasn’t any family. I think it’s because she doesn’t want it known that she is Tommy Hunter’s daughter as she’d most likely lose her job. Hence why OCG have a hold over her.”
Elsewhere in Sunday’s show, fans were left stunned after Ryan Pilkington and Kate ended up face-to-face at gunpoint, following Jo’s orders.
Viewers will have to wait until the next episode to find out what exactly happened and if either Ryan or Kate have been killed off.
