Lorraine says 'for goodness sake' as she questions Meghan Markle's Oprah chat

Lorraine Kelly has continued to question Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Oprah interview ahead of the programme’s broadcast.

Speaking to The Mirror’s Royal Editor Russell Myers, Lorraine said “for goodness sake” as she admitted she doesn’t understand why the royal couple have decided to “open a can of worms”.

Russell said: “Now Meghan has actually gone one stage further and used language saying ‘the firm’, now that only means the Royal family, she is accusing the Royal family of perpetuating these falsehoods.

“That is an absolutely extraordinary allegation.”

Lorraine replied: “Like you say if you’re saying ‘the firm’, you’re basically attacking your family that you married into and the Queen.

“You just think to yourself ‘for goodness sake, why would you do that?'”.

Lorraine continued: “…I don’t understand why they’re doing this interview, it makes no sense to me at all.

“Because there they were in California enjoying their life, and good luck to them… but why open this can of worms?”

Later she added: “It’s so silly though, nobody’s going to win. Nobody’s going to come out of this particularly well”.

Earlier this week, Lorraine spoke about Meghan and Harry’s Oprah interview in another discussion.

The host said: “The whole Meghan and Harry thing we’ll find out at the weekend, do you think that’s it now?

“They would have done it, it’s all off their chest, they’ve said what they needed to say and maybe can not do anymore?

“Because I don’t understand why they’re doing it anyway, it seems to me… I don’t understand.”

Russell explained that he doesn’t think this will be the last of the pair’s interviews as he mentioned their ITV documentary that aired in 2020.

Later, Lorraine said: “I understand when Harry feels passionately against the press, I really get that but I just wonder sometimes is it social media they’re worried about in the UK?”

Lorraine isn’t the only ITV host to be discussing Meghan and Harry as Good Morning Britain’s Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid clashed over the topic earlier this week.

Piers was slamming Harry and Meghan on air once again and Susanna had seemingly had enough of her co-star as she jumped to their defence.

As Morgan continued his fiery rant, Reid remarked: “You’ve got such a negative filter about them.

“You’re obsessed with them.”

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
