Louise Redknapp has spoken candidly about the break up of her marriage to ex-husband Jamie, sharing the private regrets she harbours.
The singer, 46, admitted she wishes she’d stayed with the Sky Sports pundit, working through their relationship troubles, rather than deciding on divorce.
Marrying in 1998, Louise and Jamie Redknapp were the ultimate Brit showbiz romance, gracing red carpets and raising two sons between them.
However, months after Louise appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, the pair announced their separation, divorcing in 2017.
Discussing their break up in an interview with Mail on Sunday’s You Magazine this weekend, the Stretch songstress opened up on the regret she feels today.

She said: “I should have paused and thought about other people and had just a bit more time to work out why I felt I couldn’t do it any more.
“I wish I’d tried. I want to say to anyone thinking of running: Just slow down. Don’t run.”
Wondering whether communication was a missing ingredient near the end of their romance, Louise said she regretted not speaking more truthfully about her feelings.
She continued: “Because once you run too fast, you can’t make up the ground you’ve lost. Stop, say what you need, say what you think, don’t be afraid to say what’s really going on. You don’t have to be quiet.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Louise admitted she was “super-grateful” to Strictly for reigniting her passion for performance, helping her to keep her professional focus in life.
Since appearing in the BBC One dance competition, Louise has enjoyed a creative revival, releasing her solo album Heavy Love in January of last year.
Featuring tracks like Hurt and Not The Same, certain songs in the album were inspired by the heartache of her marital separation.

Louise’s stage career was also thriving pre-Covid, with a role in West End’s 9 to 5 The Musical and a sell-out tour across the UK.
The lockdown has given the mum-of-two the opportunity to reflect, putting her feelings on the page in her new memoir You’ve Got This: And Other Things I Wish I Had Known.
Set to be released next month, the book promises to be “a little bit of a love letter” to readers who are concerned whether “they’re getting it right in life”.
Elaborating on the story inside the pages, on Sunday evening Louise took to Instagram to give fans a little more information on the soon-to-be-released memoir.
She said: “‘You’ve Got This’ is by no means a tell-all autobiography, But I do talk about many different aspects of my life – some good, some bad and other lessons I have learnt along the way.
“I really do hope this book will help, empower and bring some sort of light to anybody who has been or is going through something that hasn’t been easy.”
