Meghan Markle torn apart by TV hosts for 'lecturing' others after 'quitting royal life'

The outspoken hosts of Australia’s Today show didn’t hold back from being honest about their feelings for Meghan Markle’s 40th birthday video.

On Thursday, Karl Stefanovic and Sophie Walsh tore into the royal couple after Meghan released a 40th birthday message announcing her new initiative to help women get back to work after the coronavirus pandemic.

Sophie said she found it “rich” for Meghan to “lecture” the public about going back to work after she “quit her job” as a senior royal.

The 35-year-old remarked: “I love that she’s lecturing people about getting back to the workplace and she quit her job as a royal after less than two years.”

Karl then pointed out that the couple were already rolling in money “from home” after making deals with several major corporations including Netflix and Spotify.

Attacking the duchess’ video, he added: “And to have that dog’s life, just lying there in front of the fire that’s not on, on a pillow.”

Karl then took aim at Meghan’s manner of speaking, asking: “Why doesn’t she talk normally?

He then put on a mock American accent and quoted: “‘To harness the woman’s mobility as she works back…’ I mean, come on!”

“No wonder Harry’s outside juggling!” he said, to which Sophie quipped: “Harry’s lost the plot.”

The brutal remarks came after Meghan released the video on the Archewell website to commemorate her 40th birthday launch of the new 40×40 campaign.

The clip saw Meghan speaking to her celeb pal Melissa McCarthy about her Hollywood-backed initiative urging people around the world to commit to giving 40 minutes of their time to support women going back to work after Covid.

Meghan announced to Melissa: “Because I’m turning 40, I’m asking 40 friends to donate 40 minutes of their time to help mentor a woman who’s mobilising back into the workforce.

“Over two million women in the U.S. alone and tens of millions around the world have lost their jobs due to Covid. And I think if we all do it and all commit 40 minutes to some sort of active service, we can create a ripple effect.”

In the video, the former royal makes a series of wisecracks about tattoos, Suits, and her age as she sits at a grand desk in what appears to be her US mansion.
