Paris Jackson, the daughter of the King of Pop, was 11 years of age when her dad Michael Jackson died back in 2009.
Michael Jackson, who was dubbed the King of Pop was and still is one of the biggest legends in music history, and was in the midst of rehearsing his sold out tour This Is It when he tragically passed away at 50 years old.
When Michael passed away 14 years ago, Paris and her brothers Prince and Blanket went to live with their grandmother, Katherine Jackson – as per Michael’s wishes.
Paris, who is now 23, has recently opened up about her life after her father’s passing in a harrowing episode of her Facebook Watch series.
Explaining how she became addicted to eating before turning to self harm, the star candidly discussed her mental health and battles with suicidal thoughts.
“Yes, I tried to kill myself many times,” the star said.
“It was a distraction from emotional pain and transferring to physical pain and the need for control.
“I gained a lot of weight and it [eating] became an addiction… and then a cousin called me fat so I was like, ‘OK, I can’t do that anymore’. And that’s how I fell into self-harm.”
Worried for her wellbeing, her family stepped in and Paris was sent to a boarding school in Utah.
Although she was supposed to be healing at the boarding school in Utah, Paris sadly suffered alleged abuse and was left with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Responding to Paris Hilton’s claims that she was abused at a similar correctional school, Paris Jackson told her social media followers: “As a girl who also went to a behaviour modification ‘boarding school’ for almost two years as a teenager, and has since been diagnosed with PTSD because of it, and continue to have nightmares and trust issues, I stand with @ParisHilton and the other survivors.
“The other girls I’m still friends with to this day that went to the boarding school with me all have the same symptoms of PTSD and nightmares and trust issues. This is child abuse.”
Paris then began to grow closer to her biological mum, Debbie Rowe, who birthed Paris and Prince but handed custody to their father Michael.
Debbie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016 and underwent a course of chemotherapy before being given the all clear.
In 2018 it was reported that at age 19, Paris broke ties with her biological mother and moved to a ‘hippie retreat’ in Topanga Canyon, Los Angeles, where a source said she and her alternative friends lived as a family.
An insider revealed to Radar Online: “It’s a form of therapy for Paris and her friends. They consider each other family, and feed off the energy that’s generated by their intense bond,
“Their intentions are actually quite positive, so no mind-bending pills or negativity. Paris is convinced this is perfectly normal and thinks everyone should be happy for her, but there’s a major concern over her isolated lifestyle.
“Paris has stopped following Debbie on Twitter and Instagram. They were incredibly close for so long, but there days Paris prefers hanging out with her hippie friends.”
Paris and her boyfriend Gabriel Glenn formed a band called The Soundflowers and the group released their first self-titled EP in 2020 and launched their own Facebook Watch series – Unfiltered: Paris Jackson and Gabriel Glenn.
In a candid episode of the Facebook Watch series, Paris could be seen discussing her sexuality: “Never thought I’d end up with a dude,
“Thought I’d end up marrying a chick or… I’ve dated more women than men. Been with more chicks.”
“I say I’m gay because I guess I am, but I wouldn’t consider myself bisexual because I’ve dated more than just men and women, I’ve dated a man that had a vagina.
“It has nothing to do what’s in your pants, it’s literally like, what are you like as a person?”
In August 2020 Paris and Gabriel were rumoured to have called it quits so that she could ‘focus on herself’.
Since reportedly splitting from her lover, Paris signed a solo record deal with Republic Records.
Last October she released Let Down, her first single, followed by her debut album Wilted.
