Niall Aslam accuses Love Island of 'messing with the mentality' of contestants

Love Island star Niall Aslam, who appeared on the hit ITV series but left after just a few days, has launched a fresh attack at the show.

Niall, who entered the villa in 2018, hit out at the behind-the-scenes workings of the show after seeing producers ask viewers to think before they tweet.

Niall told ITV to “practice what you preach” in a public Instagram comment on Love Island’s official page.

The star penned: “Don’t watch the show anymore after everything but assuming you’ve messy with someone mentally and posting about it being nice? Practice what you preach.”

Prior to the show’s launch it was confirmed that ITV would be upping the level of aftercare on the show in a bid to protect the mental health of those who take part.

In a statement amid vile backlash against new bombshell Chloe Burrows, ITV said: “We want Love Island to be a positive experience for all our cast and their friend and family members.

“Last night’s episode created strong reactions but some viewers’ posts were wholly unacceptable.

“We take these matters extremely seriously and will support cast members and their families in reporting such posts.

“We would once again urge all our viewers to think before posting, and remember that our Islanders are people with feelings.”

Chloe’s social media accounts were met with a torrent of vile abuse after Chloe’s decision to pick Aaron in a single decoupling lead to the exit of Shannon Singh.

In a long post on her official Instagram page, fans of Chloe, 25, told of their horror after receiving messages wishing death on her.

Her friends and family penned: “We hate to introduce ourselves under such vile circumstances but we’ve had enough after just 3 episodes.

“We all have thick skin but the amount of trolling Chloe has been receiving is absolutely disgusting.

“This morning we woke up to yet another DM (see next story) encouraging Chloe to kill herself – there have been HUNDREDS.!”

“Have the deaths of Sophie, Mike, and Caroline taught us nothing?”

The family statement continued: “Not only that, but people are flooding her inbox threatening to kill her themselves. People… this is a GAME show, there is a cash prize!

“We understand the frustration surrounding @shannonsinghh’s eviction – we feel it too”
