Louis Tomlinson sent teenage hearts aflutter when he rose to fame as a member of One Direction back in 2010, the band famed for their boyish good looks.
Over a decade later, and the singer, 29, is all grown up, debuting a more mature look with long hair and stubble in his latest public appearance.
Louis worked the classic boyband hairdo of a sweeping side fringe for years, his brown bangs fanning across his forehead throughout the peak of 1D mania.
Since going solo, he has refined his style and was spotted this week with his hair grown out to his shoulders, the signature fringe nowhere to be seen.
On top of that, his clean-shaven appearance is no more – now, Louis has a smattering of stubble across his cheeks, looking more rugged than ever before.
The crooner, who released his debut solo album Walls in early 2020, could be seen greeting fans in London, stepping out of a car and smiling at the cameras.
In honour of the football semi-finals this week, Louis wore a red England shirt, showing his support for his national team as they square up against Denmark on Wednesday evening.
Steven Gerrard’s name and number were emblazoned across the back of the shirt, which he paired with a faded black Polo Sport cap.
Louis has made fun of his sense of style in the past, previously telling The Guardian he was seen as “the kid wearing espadrilles” in One Direction.
However, his dress sense has inspired a fan Instagram account – Louis Tomlinson Fashion Archive – which documents every single item Louis has been seen wearing.
The site shows fans where they can pick up identical garments for themselves, and the account has even caught the attention of Louis himself.
When asked about the account during a radio interview with Fleur East in 2019, Louis said: “Even if it’s just like T-shirts, they’re just on it!”
Since the four remaining members of One Direction – Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis – parted ways in 2016, Louis has been building up to a solo career, with Walls receiving positive reviews upon its release last year.
Discussing finding his own voice, he told Rolling Stone he deliberately took his time in releasing the album, ensuring he was proud to put his name to it.
He said: “When I took the leap of faith to go, ‘All right, I’m going to do something on my own,’ it took me a second to work out exactly what that was going to be.
“A lot of people, when they’re first starting out, they develop in the background, trying different things. But obviously, I had to do that a little bit more publicly. That’s been definitely been challenging at times. So I’m relieved to have an album that I’m really proud of.”
Fingers crossed fans can look forward to more music in the near future, but first, Louis will be busy watching the footie.
