Our Yorkshire Farm Amanda Owen leaves fans 'mortified' as 'things get bad' with kids

Our Yorkshire Farm’s Amanda Owen has hit back at people who criticise how she chooses to raise her children.

Chatting about her large family, the shepherdess and Channel 5 TV star explained how some fans might be “mortified” by the way she celebrates her children’s birthdays.

During the interview, the shepherdess opened up about the challenges of having a large family.

Amanda said: “Things have got so sort of bad at our house that we have an accumulated en masse visit of the tooth fairy.

“We’re just like ‘put it under the pillow every night until the tooth fairy can actually be bothered to come to the house,'” she laughed, while speaking on Sophie Ellis Bextor’s Spinning Plates podcast.

To which Sophie replied: “A very good idea, the tooth fairy is like ‘this means business like okay I should bring my extra big bag.’”

However, Amanda revealed tooth fairy visits aren’t the only events that often get grouped together in the Owen household.

She confessed to also having a few parenting tricks for handling birthdays for her nine children.

Amanda admitted: “When the children are little, because I’ve got various ones that have birthdays in the summer, we would also have birthdays en masse.”

Sophie asked: “Well, I was going to say, are your birthdays sort of spread out throughout the year?”

Amanda replied: “They tend to bunch up through the summer, so you’ll have to make out of that what you like.

“But basically, while they are little and they don’t know what day their birthday is, it makes absolute sense to just cram them all in,” she explained further.

Sophie agreed: “Yeah, I’m all for that kind of thing.”

“Some people will be mortified and be like ‘oh but what about their special day!’” Amanda remarked, hitting out at her critics.

Sophie was very supportive of Amanda and her choices, and agreed that having group celebrations isn’t a bad thing at all.
