Piers Morgan hits out at Dan Walker over Michael Vaughan interview on BBC Breakfast

Former Good Morning Britain anchor Piers Morgan has reignited his long-running feud with BBC Breakfast star Dan Walker.

It comes after over Dan’s exclusive interview with English cricket commentator and former international captain Michael Vaughan.

Piers has taken to Twitter and questioned why the BBC presenter and star of Strictly Come Dancing 2021 didn’t address one burning question in his interview.

The former GMB host was angry that Dan hadn’t touched on the subject of Azeem Rafiq’s historic anti-Semitic comments, which he apologised for last week.

Dan took to Twitter to promote the exclusive interview, sharing some words with his followers.

He penned: “Exclusive interview with @MichaelVaughan at 830 on #BBCBreakfast this morning.

“He says sorry for the hurt former team-mate Azeem Rafiq has suffered. He talks of regret about previous offensive tweets but denies making racist comments.”

Responding to Dan’s tweet, Piers wrote: “Why did you not even mention Rafiq’s own proven racism?

“Does the BBC not consider his anti-Semitism to be as serious, or of significant relevance when it comes to assessing his credibility as an accuser?”

This comes after the former GMB favourite took to social media to defend Michael Vaughan, after the BBC had announced that the star had been axed from covering this year’s Ashes.

He wrote: “So let me get this straight, the BBC has effectively found @MichaelVaughan guilty of something he vehemently denies, but has no way to prove he didn’t do, after allegations from someone who spewed anti-Semitic slurs but hasn’t been banned by the BBC. How is this fair?”

Piers and Dan have been involved in a long-running feud

Piers and Dan have been loggerheads for years, with the former GMB star using his platform on numerous occasions to take aim at the BBC Breakfast newsreader.

Addressing the allegations against Michael Vaughan, the BBC released a statement that read: “While he is involved in a significant story in cricket, for editorial reasons we do not believe that it would be appropriate for Michael Vaughan to have a role in our Ashes team or wider coverage of the sport at the moment.

“We require our contributors to talk about relevant topics and his involvement in the Yorkshire story represents a conflict of interest.”

The BBC’s statement came after cricketer Azeem alleged that Vaughan had made a racist comment 12 years ago.
