Piers Morgan let rip at TV rivals Ant and Dec at the TRIC Awards.
The star won the gong for Best News Presenter at the event.
And as he collected it on stage, he didn’t hold back and had a dig at Ant and Dec winning for 20 years in a row at the National Television Awards.
Piers told the crowd: “I am truly staggered that Ant and Dec haven’t won this f***ing award.
“The way they grilled those Z Listers in that castle about kangaroo testicles to me was some of the finest interviewing. They have been cruelly robbed.”
Piers continued to rant about Ant and Dec backstage.
He told the Daily Star: “I hope they’re gutted. Obviously it would have been a travesty even by their standards for them to win News Presenter of the Year.”
Piers also had a dig at Huw Edwards, who was one of the other nominees in the News Presenter category.
He said: “As he’s now known following this defeat, Who Edwards!”
Piers was reunited with Susanna Reid at the event for the first time since quitting Good Morning Britain.
He said: “It’s very nice to see Susanna again. I haven’t seen her since I left Good Morning Britain. It was actually quite emotional for both of us.
“You get very close to someone when you work that closely together.
“Not many men have seen Susanna Reid in her curlers at 5am consistently. I’m one of those people. It was a privilege.”
The outspoken broadcaster, who packed in the ITV daytime show this year, had been up against Susanna for the award.
Before his big win, Piers was seen chatting with his former co-star on the red carpet, where he also got to catch up with ex-colleagues Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway.
News of Piers’ victory came just a few hours after ITV’s chief exec said he ‘vigorously’ defended the presenter during the Ofcom investigation into his criticism of the Oprah with Meghan and Harry interview.
His comments on GMB about the Duchess of Sussex gave rise to over 50,000 Ofcom complaints – more than the watchdog has ever seen before.
Ultimately, the show was cleared this month.
