Richard Madeley 'livid' he can't return to I'm A Celeb after hospital dash

Richard Madeley is reportedly “livid” he can’t return to the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! castle following his late night hospital dash on Wednesday evening.

The Good Morning Britain presenter was forced to quit the hit ITV reality show just hours after he had been taken to hospital following his earlier complaints of feeling unwell.

He was released from hospital on Thursday afternoon where he took to Instagram to announce his sudden departure from the show despite his best efforts to power through his illness.

Now his children Jack and Chloe have taken to social media to share their congratulatory messages to their 65-year-old dad and revealed some of his thoughts on his surprising exit.

Following his announcement on the popular social media site, his 33-year-old daughter revealed how her father is “absolutely fine” but disappointed he can’t return to the show.

She wrote: “Thanks for all your lovely messages. Dad’s absolutely fine, we’ve been speaking to him all day and ultimately, he’s just livid he can’t go back into camp because of Covid restrictions.

“He did himself proud, though. He worked hard and was his calm, collected, kind and funny self. We are so proud,” she concluded.

Her older brother, Jack, also gave his opinions on his father’s time on the show and updated his fiercely loyal followers on his health scare.

Jack penned: “Thanks so much for all the lovely messages about dad – he’s absolutely fine and back to his usual irrepressibly chirpy self!

“We’re so proud and watching him each night this week was one of the funniest things I can remember.

“Cheers to the ace “imacelebrity crew for giving him (and us) such a laugh over the last few days.”

Chloe later shared her brother’s post on her Instagram stories and added: “And good luck to all the other celebs and their fams watching nervously at home. Wel jel – seriously x.”

His son Jack reassured fans that his father is “absolutely fine” following his health scare

It comes after the broadcaster regretfully broke the news just hours earlier as fans shared their disappointment at his early departure online.

He explained: “Hello all! Richard here – firstly just to say that I’m absolutely FINE.

“I started to feel briefly unwell in the small hours of the morning and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

“By leaving the camp, I had consequently broken the Covid ‘bubble’ and as such I’ve had to leave the castle and all the wonderful celebs that remain in the camp.

He added: “Obviously I’m gutted to be leaving so soon but the safety of all the campmates is the number one priority.

“I’m incredibly excited to watch their journey continue … even more so at the prospect of being somewhere a little warmer than Gwrych Castle.

“Thank you to everyone who supported me on my brief but completely unforgettable adventure – I’ve made some great friends and honestly had the time of my life. Speak soon, Richard x.”
