Rod Stewart says he won’t bow to the woke brigade and ditch his raunchier older hits like Hot Legs.
The Rolling Stones axed smash hit Brown Sugar from their setlists last month after the 1971 song was accused of glamorising slavery.
But rocker Rod, 76, insists his saucy tunes and lyrics about women remain “worthy” of being in his shows.
The Sailing singer believes that his audiences want to hear his older hits even if they were created in a “different era”.
He said: “These songs like Hot Legs, Stay With Me and Da Ya Think I Am Sexy? were all written in a different era.

“But they represent that era and that is what makes them worthy.”
Tonight’s The Night is a track centred on a man seducing a girl over a drink. It features the lyrics: “Don’t deny your man’s desire. You’d be a fool to stop this tide. Spread your wings and let me come inside.”
Asked if he feels he should move on from that type of tune, Rod told Radio 4: “No. I give the audience what they want. You know songs bring back memories.

“No matter how you try when you get in my position people do not really care about new songs.
“They just love all the old stuff. I am lucky that I have got a barrow load of old stuff.
“They are great songs if they last this long. If you look at Maggie May every time I play Maggie May I say most of you were not even born when this came out. So it must be a good song.”

Rod, who is married to Penny Lancaster and is busy promoting new album The Tears of Hercules, said “the love of it” keeps him going with plans for a global tour and a Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace next year.
But speaking of Sin City, he said: “They are not all fans so you have got to win them over. And it is a challenge.
“Whereas when you play a regular show you know your fans are already there.”
