Viewers were left rather perplexed on Saturday night, after they confused British comedian Jack Dee with Hollywood actor Jack Nicholson on Paul O’Grady’s Saturday Night Line Up.
The new ITV show had four celebrity guests appear in the studio alongside Paul as they pit themselves against each other through a series of blunt questions.
For the first show singer Mischa Paris, Judge Robert Rinder, actress Joanna Page and Jack Dee appeared on the panel.
But some viewers were left rather distracted with Jack’s appearance as they compared him to another Hollywood star.
Taking to Twitter fans aired their thoughts.
One spectator penned: “Genuinely thought Jack Dee was Jack Nicholson there!”
Another said: “Jack Dee has turned into Jack Nicholson from The Shining.”
A third commented: “Great to see Jack Nicholson joining the panel tonight #PaulOGrady Saturday Night Line Up.”
While a fourth chimed: “Jack dee has morphed into jack Nicholson.”
Another fan even compared the comedic star with another Hollywood legend too and questioned: “Why does Jack Dee look like John Malkovich?”
But as well as the confusion, some fans were rather chuffed that presenter Paul was back on their screens hosting Saturday night TV once again.
Takin to Twitter, spectators aired their opinions.
“Finally Paul O’Grady is again let loose after the watershed. He’s my hero,” one fan laughed.
While another said: “Whoever at ITV decided to put Paul O’Grady back on late night tv deserves a raise.”
A third viewer quipped: “Paul O’Grady after the watershed is like letting a bull out in a china shop, everything is gonna get it full blast. Love it.”
Former Drag Queen and comedian Paul has been keeping his career rather mild over the last few years or so and has hosted primetime shows us Blind Date and The Love of Dogs.
Talking about Paul’s new show in July, a TV insider told The Sun: “After months of being stuck indoors in lockdown Paul couldn’t wait to get out and start filming again, though it was a strange experience being back in a TV studio.
“This is certainly a spectacular comeback of sorts for Paul, who we haven’t seen making this type of show for years.
“He was a master when he hosted The Paul O’Grady Show on ITV and Channel 4 and fronting Blankety Blank as his alter-ego, Lily Savage.”
