Sharon Osbourne gave BLM $700,000 months before she was branded 'racist'

Sharon Osbourne gave $700,000 to Black Lives Matter just months before she was accused of being a racist on The Talk.

As riots sweet across America following the murder of George Floyd by a police officer, Sharon and her rocker husband Ozzy Osbourne arranged for special Black Sabbath T-shirts to be made supporting the movement.

Keen to do their bit, the couple had the tops printed with Black Lives Matter in the band’s distinctive font.

The t-shirts are still on sale and helping to raise money to fight for equality.

Sharon said: “So many people bought one and it’s still selling.

“We gave Black Lives Matter $720,000. We have another $200,000 but I’m giving it to another group.”

When asked by You Magazine why she’s not been more vocal about the huge donation in her defence of not being racist, the former X Factor judge replied: “Because people don’t want to hear it. And it’s like saying: ‘Some of my best friends are black.'”

Speaking freely about the incident on The Talk in which Sheryl Underwood turned on her for backing Piers Morgan in his right to speak his thoughts on Meghan Markle, Sharon said: “I was meant to talk about Piers for two minutes at the start of the show, then we would go on to Selena Gomez and, would you believe, Pepé Le Pew and Dumbo.

“That’s what we were meant to be discussing. Instead the producers let it go on for 20 minutes of ugly TV.”

Sharon says what’s hurt her the most is that Sheryl, who had been a close friend for many years, didn’t defend her.

Mrs O says in the break of the show she tried to talk to Sheryl but was met with a stone wall.

She continued: “I’m like: “What the hell?” And in the break, after the first ten minutes of abuse, I go: ‘Sheryl, what is going on? Talk to me. What is going on?’

“There were no producers on the floor, nothing: it was just camera crew and the girls.

“And she wouldn’t talk to me, she refused.”
