Sir Lenny Henry looks slimmer than ever as he cosies up to girlfriend Lisa Makin

Sir Lenny Henry looked trimmer than ever as he got cosy with girlfriend Lisa Makin at the Ambassador Theatre Group’s Summer Party.

The BBC Comic Relief host, 63, looked dapper as he showcased his new slimmed down form at the swanky Kensington Palace event in London on Monday.

He wore dark grey trousers, a black buttoned-up blazer and an untucked cotton shirt.

The comedian accessorised his look with signature pair of dark framed glasses and a casual pair of pumps.

His partner Lisa, who Lenny has been in a relationship with for almost a decade, opted for a chic black floor-length gown with modest side slit.

Lisa added touched of glam with a statement silver necklace and green strapped platform heels.

Smiling for the camera, the pair leaned in as Lenny nestled his arm lovingly around Lisa’s arm.

Back in June, This Morning fans were left flabbergasted at Lenny’s dramatic weight loss.

He appeared on the day time favourite explaining that comedy had become “a sword and shield” defence mechanics when suffering racial abuse while growing up.

In the discussion, he told hosts Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby: “Comedy was a sword and a shield actually to protect me, once I got the idea that comedy could protect you from being bullied if you were clever then I started to use it.

“There was this kid who used to racially abuse me almost everyday when we were in about the third or fourth year.

“It started at the school gates and it would end when the bell rang, and we would end up on the floor, rolling around, fighting, and it happened a lot. In the mud, punching, kicking me.

“Until eventually a bell went off in my head, a light bulb went off in my head and eventually I said something like ‘you must really like me because you’re always rolling around on the floor with me, why don’t we just go have a dinner and a movie?’

“All the people who used to watch us and go ‘fight! fight!’ suddenly started to laugh, and I said ‘I know I’ll call tomorrow and why don’t we have a curry and chat about this?’ and he started to get really angry that his pals who were usually on his side were laughing at him.’

Over on Twitter fans seemed to be more taken back by Lenny’s staggering weight loss.

One message read: “Lenny Henry looks like he’s lost a lot of weight.”

Another chimed: “Blimey Lenny Henry looks good, well done to him for losing so much weight.”
