Giovanni Pernice will happily take the coronavirus vaccine, should it be essential for dancing professionals to compete in the next season of Strictly Come Dancing.
The Italian born star admitted that while he is keen to get back into the ballroom, all safety measures must remain in place due to the level of intimacy between dancers and their partners.
Giovanni, 30, competed in the last season of Strictly with celebrity pairing, Good Moning Britain’s political editor, Ranvir Singh, with the pair eventually being given the boot during week eight.
Speaking to The Mirror, Giovanni said: “The priority for me and for us and for the BBC especially is to be safe and if we have to work in environments when you have to dance and get close to somebody and a vaccine was required to be safe for everybody, then why not?”

He added: “Why would we put people at risk only because we don’t want to have a vaccine. It’s obviously not my place to give any medical advice to the BBC but of course, I would do it.”
Over the past year, the dancing supreme has faced heartache after not being able to head home to Sicily due to the ongoing lockdown periods and coronavirus developments.

“I haven’t seen my mum and dad and sister for one year. We tried over Christmas but then all the flights were cancelled so we have to wait.
“I would prefer to wait a little longer and be able to go there and give them a big hug and a kiss,” he painfully told.
During her appearance on the show, Ranvir spoke openly about her desires to see GMB co-anchor Piers Morgan participating on Strictly as half of the first same male partnering.

Speaking about the potential of coupling up with a fellow chap for the show, Giovanni went on to say: “It’s not down to me if the production people come to me and said ‘listen, Giovanni, we’d love you to be partnered with a man’ I’d say ‘yes’.
“I am more than ready to be partnered with a man.”
Last year, Strictly made history by featuring their first same-sex pairing, with Olympic boxer Nicola Adams teaming up with professional dancer, Katya Jones.
Sadly, they were forced to walk away from the show early after Katya contracted the coronavirus.
Nicola insisted with bosses that her participation in the show would mean that she would be patterned with a woman as it was “definitely time for change”.
