Strictly's Giovanni says Maura Higgins romance 'came to natural end' as he speaks out

Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice has broken his silence on his split from Maura Higgins, saying it “came to a natural end”.

Love Island’s Maura and Gio shared a brief romance after the pair went Instagram official back in July before the couple broke up recently.

Since the break up Maura has deleted photos of her and the Strictly pro from her social media, but now Giovanni has broken his silence.

Taking to his Instagram story and Twitter, Giovanni shared a message to his fans which said: “Hey guys – I hope everyone had a great Monday.

“Going into another wonderful training week – thank you so much for your amazing messages and your support this weekend. I get to live my dream every single day because of you – so thank you, thank you, thank you.

Giovanni has been paired with EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis on this year’s series of the hit BBC dancing show and is a favourite to win this week’s upcoming Halloween special.

He continued: “I wanted to say a couple of things… Firstly, great relationships with great people can come to a natural end. This has been the case for me recently.

“There was absolutely no wrong-doing and this should be the end of any speculation.

“Whilst I respect and understand interest in my personal life, wouldn’t it be fantastic to instead use this space to raise awareness of subjects and issues which need the attention.”

The Sun reported that Giovanni had apparently been using the celebrity dating app Raya before the split from Maura.

Though breaking his silence, it appears Giovanni denies any wrong-doing in the ending of his relationship with the reality star.

His message to his followers continued: “My eyes have been opened to so many things during my career. But I am learning so much from this series of Strictly. The show has highlighted many important conversations for different communities and increased representation.

“These are the conversations which deserve the time, energy and recognition. We must concentrate on what’s important and how we can all make a difference in life.”

Maura was reportedly left heartbroken by the split, with a source telling The Sun Maura “genuinely thought Gio was the one” and is “absolutely devastated”.
