Strictly Come Dancing star Tilly Ramsay admitted that it has been “a tough week” ahead of Saturday’s show, as she and partner Nikita Kuzmin prepare to dance the tango to song Kings and Queen.
The couple have already been wowing the judges, but talking to BBC The One Show host Gethin Jones, Tilly admitted the serious mood of the dance has been tough to get used to.
She said it had been tough as “this mood for me does not come naturally.”
“I love the dances where we can smile and laugh with each other,” she added.
“I started off giggling at the start of the tango, on day one of rehearsals, and Nikita was like ‘this cannot happen’.
“It’s been a tough week, but it is a very rewarding feeling on Friday when you’re doing your camera blocks and you can run the number through.”
Reflecting on the past week, she added “If you told me I was going to be doing that on Monday, I’d be like, absolutely no way.”
However, Tilly was left in hysterics after Gethin asked her to “show us your tango face”.
After pulling a serious facial expression, Tilly burst into laughter saying, “I can’t do it on the spot!
“I need a good ten minutes warm up to really get in that…”
Host Gethin replied, “It could end up like a comedy tango couldn’t it? We’ll see.”
During the interview, both Nikita and Tilly admitted that its very emotional when Tilly’s family members pop up on video during the show with messages of support, with Nikita describing Tilly’s Nan’s message as “such a beautiful moment.”
Tilly and Nikita have been impressing the judges with their dances, including scoring 35 points with their Latin dance to Spooky Moves last week during the Halloween episode of the series.
During the performance, Tilly was dressed as the Bride of Frankenstein, while being painted bright green for the dance routine.
They came third on the leader board, behind AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington with 37 points following their viennese waltz to Dangerous Woman by Ariana Grande.
However, Rose Ayling Ellis and Giovanni Pernice performed a tango to Shivers by Ed Sheeran, coming first with a perfect score of 40 points.
