Susanna Reid scolds Ed Miliband as electric car debate on GMB turns fiery

Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Adil Reid were left gobsmacked on Thursday after Ed Miliband made a confession in relation to electric cars.

The presenting duo chatted to Mr Miliband over his all-electric drive campaign.

However, when quizzed about owning an electric vehicle, Ed admitted that he is yet to buy one.

He said: “But it is only going to happen with bold government action and we are not seeing it at the moment.

“The government needs to step in.”

Susanna, 50, asked: “I presume you have got one?”

“It is a work in progress,” he said.

“What?” asked Adil, 46.

A stunned Susanna added: “Practice what you preach.”

“Hang on, hang on,” said Adil.

Shadow Business Secretary, Mr Miliband said: “I haven’t yet. It is a work in progress.

“I have got an electric bike but I have not yet. I will do, let me assure you.

“We were on our way to buying one before the lockdown.”

He continued: “It is going to happen, I promise you. I have bought an electric bike. It is on its way.”

“You are pushing for everybody to have an electric car and you do not have one yourself?” asked Susanna.

Adil said: “You have not even experienced one…”

“It isn’t accessible to you!” said Susanna, after Mr Miliband responded: “I am trying to make it accessible. I am pushing to make it accessible.”

Viewers at home rushed to their keyboards to praise Susanna for the way she conducted the interview.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Well done Susanna.”

A second person posted: “What has Susanna Reid had to drink before coming on today?”

While a third social media user said: “Susanna vs Ed. Classic #GMB viewing. @piersmorgan would be proud.”

Susanna and Adil also clashed with Vicky Ward MP over her comments about about Marcus Rashford’s school meals campaign.

But one claim from Ms Ford left Adil and Susanna uncomfortable, as they claimed she was appearing to “take credit” for the social media push and calls for free meals for hungry kids.
