The Voice fans rage as Jesy Nelson's stunning cousin booted off show by judges

Jesy Nelson’s cousin Jamie-Leigh Nelson blew away viewers with her powerful vocal performance on The Voice UK – but failed to have the same impact when it came to the judges.

The 34-year-old was left devastated after she’d sang her heart out, giving it her all in the blind audition, only to find that none of the celebrity panel had turned their chairs.

Jamie-Leigh performed her own version of the dance anthem Set You Free by N-Trance, for judges including; Anne-Marie, Tom Jones, will.i.am, and Olly Murs.

X Factor star Olly Murs seemed to twitch as he thought about tapping his button, but then had a change of heart.

Fans of the show were less than impressed that the blonde hadn’t managed to join a team, claiming that she was “robbed” of securing a spot on the programme.

Taking to Twitter, one person penned: “Jamie Leigh Nelson, Jesy’s good-looking cousin who can actually sing rather than hiccup, doesn’t get a turn on #TheVoiceUK.”

Another blasted: “So many singers far worse than Jamie Leigh have gotten through,”

While a third person added: “What how did the coaches not turn for Jamie Lee. Her voice was brilliant she was robbed. I loved the blend of disco and powerhouse vocal #TheVoiceUK”.

In the videotape before her performance, Jamie-Leigh said: “There are people in the family that are definitely musical, one of my cousins is Jesy from Little Mix.

“I just see her work so hard, she really really wanted it and she went out there and got it, and it made me think, ‘Do you know what, if she can do it, then I can do it’, and they have done so, so well, I am proud of her.”

It is believed that filming for Jamie-Leigh’s audition had taken place prior to Jesy’s bombshell announcement that she was leaving Little Mix for good.

As the competition heats up and the teams begin to fill, judges tend to become less forthcoming with their buzzers, approaching each audition with caution.

Jamie-Leigh remained in high spirits as she spoke to the cameras after, saying: “I really enjoyed it, I gave it everything, and that’s all you can ask for.

“Obviously I am disappointed, but I am proud of myself, because I’ve never done anything like this before, so to go out there and have the confidence to sing and do it.

“Even though I didn’t get a turn, that’s life.”
