This Morning viewers were distracted during Friday’s episode, when former S Club 7 star Jo O’Meara appeared in the studio to discuss her return to music.
The singer, who is releasing a solo album titled ‘With Love,’ wore a sleeveless white gown, her arm tattoos on full display during the chat.
As Jo, 42, caught up with Friday hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary on the sofa, viewers’ attention was diverted by her ink.
On her left side, Jo had a strip of barbed wire tattooed around her upper arm – something that sent viewers on a trip down memory lane.
Taking to Twitter, viewers pointed out barbed wire tattoos were a classic style staple of the noughties, though their prominence faded out with the turn of the decade.
One wondered: “Lol why were barbed wire tattoo’s ever a thing?”
Another remarked: “Her barb wire tat is so Pamela Anderson.”
“A stark reminder of how hideous those barbed wire tattoos were in the early noughties,” quipped a third.
With seven members, Jo performed alongside Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt, Jon Lee, Paul Cattermole, Rachel Stevens and Tina Barrett in S Club 7.
The songstress had the tattoo throughout the band’s peak, with the pop group rising to fame in the late nineties thanks to tracks like Reach for the Stars and Bring It All Back.
It isnt her only tattoo – her first was of a butterfly on her bum, and she has further tattoos on her right arm and ankle.
The tattoo trend originated in the nineties when Baywatch star Pamela Anderson got inked before she started filming superhero flick Barb Wire.
Completed in 1995, Pamela decided to get the tattoo when she learned it would be part of her costume for the action film, which came out the following year.
Speaking to LA Times, she said at the time: “‘The make-up people were going to paint this on my arm every day, but I had a tattoo artist just sketch it on me and I wore it around for a half a day to see how it looked.
“I decided I’d just go ahead and get it done. I love it. I think it’s very feminine, for barbed wire.”
However, Pamela has since undergone laser removal surgery to get rid of the tattoo, which encircled her left bicep – faded completely, the barbed wire pattern is barely visible today.
This Morning airs on weekdays at 10am on ITV.
