Three Lions narrowly miss out on number one spot as football anthems dominate the chart

David Baddiel, Frank Skinner & The Lightning Seeds narrowly missed out on the number one spot this week with their iconic football anthem Three Lions.

The much loved single climbed five places over the last seven days to make it to the number 2 spot as England take on Italy in the Euros final at Wembley.

The track was released 25 years ago and previously managed to top The Official Big Top 40 during England’s World Cup stint in Russia three years ago.

But while the top spot is yet to be taken by football lovers, the Top 5 is dominated by sporting anthems.
