Tipping Point taken off the air for rest of week in ITV schedule shake-up

Tipping Point fans will be devastated to learn that Thursday’s episode of the programme has been cancelled in an ITV schedule shake-up.

The popular arcade-style game show has instead been replaced by ITV Racing from 2pm to 5pm.

However, The Chase will still air at the usual time of 5pm on Thursday.

Tipping Point won’t be returning to the timetable on Friday, either, as horse racing once again takes priority from 2pm until 5pm.

The shake-up comes just in time for the Grand National weekend, with preparatory races taking place on Thursday and Friday ahead of the official race on Saturday, April 10.

It kicked off with the opening show on Thursday morning, and will close with the official Grand National Handicap Steeple Chase at 5:15pm on Saturday.

Racing fans are clamouring to place bets for this year’s Aintree Grand National after it was cancelled due to pandemic restrictions last year.

A virtual race aired instead, with Potters Corner taking home the crown.

However, no spectators will be allowed to attend the 2021 event, promising a very different feeling in the stands.

Tipping Point will make a valiant return at the usual time of 4pm on Monday.

And viewers keen to treat themselves to a bit of arcade action before that can treat themselves to a viewing of Tipping Point: Lucky Stars at 7pm on Sunday.

This week’s all-star line-up includes comedian Tom Allen, Strictly’s Melvin Odoom and Coronation Street actress Patti Clare.

The official Tipping Point Twitter account wrote: “Will Mary’s @benshephard blanket bring Patti good luck?” in reference to Patti’s Corrie character Mary wrapping up warm in a blanket plastered with the presenter’s face.

Patti’s character Mary admitted her love for Ben on Corrie

Ben himself responded to the scene on social media, writing: “The blanket is def better than the real thing!”

Mary admitted on the programme: “I haven’t had a cuddle from a handsome man for many, many a moon.

“And I thought what could be more reassuring than to be wrapped in the arms of the always smiling, ever kind, extremely phwarsome Ben Shepard.”

We’ll have to wait and see if sparks fly on the game show on Sunday.

Fans took to Facebook to share their excitement for Tipping Point’s return on Sunday, with one writing: “Can’t wait to see Patti Clare – hope she brings her Ben Shephard blanket with her.”

Another typed: “This should be fun. They’re all hilarious. ‘Mary’ will now meet Ben but won’t be able to hug him. I’m not sure how Ben will cope without all those hugs…”

And someone else added: “Love this show, can’t wait. I think Ben is such a nice bloke too.”
