A Place In The Sun star Jonnie Irwin 'filled with painkillers' after 'horrible night'

A Place In The Sun’s Jonnie Irwin has said that he is “filled with painkillers” after enduring a “torrid night in pain”.

The 49-year-old Channel 4 presenter, who has terminal cancer, has given his followers on Instagram a health update just weeks after revealing his diagnosis.

Taking to Instagram to share a stunning snap of the Windemere countryside, Jonnie wrote a candid caption which touched the hearts of many of his fans and followers.

Alongside the picturesque snap, Jonnie penned: “After a torrid night in pain I dosed up on PK’s [painkillers] and was able to enjoy the beautiful Lakes via E-mtb [electric mountain bike].”

Jonnie explained that he is taking painkillers to take the edge off the pain

He added: “I’ll probably pay for it later but grateful for the window, the company and the weather.”

Fans were quick to throw their support behind the former star of A Place In The Sun, with one writing: “If had a Christmas miracle I’d give one to you. What a fighter and inspiration to us all … enjoy every second.”

Another added: “May you experience moments of respite from the pain while soaking in precious moments with your kids and wife.”

While a third sweetly penned: “What a inspiration you are. Never give up hope. Thinking of you and your lovely family. You seem like a lovely man.”

Last month Jonnie revealed that he was told he “six months to live” one week after wrapping up filming the beloved Channel 4 programme in Italy back in 2020 – but has since stayed alive because of treatment.

The presenter revealed his diagnosis – that he had kept private – to Hello! Magazine in November.

He first appeared on A Place In The Sun in 2004

In his chat with the magazine, he revealed that he wants to help other people in his situation “see that you can live a positive life, even though you are dying”.

It was also revealed in his interview that cancer drugs and chemotherapy have helped prolong his prognosis.

Jonnie’s A Place In The Sun career began in 2004 when he was selected from hundreds of applicants along with co-presenter Jasmine Harman.
