Superstar Adele has hit the right note in her new music video for Oh My God despite dubbing the song her self-proclaimed “I’m a hot mess” anthem.
Fans marvelled in awe at the Hello hitmaker as she brought her powerhouse vocals and oozed Hollywood glamour in the stunning black and white video.
Set in a giant warehouse, the Chasing Pavements songstress appears to grapple between heaven and hell, with a mirrored reflection showcasing an inner turmoil within herself as apples lay all over the floor to reflect temptation.
The more upbeat track, which is the second single of her album 30, is said to be steeped with hidden meanings as the star admits she is on a journey to discover her new life post-divorce from husband Simon Konecki, 47.
Thanking an array of designers for her stunning looks, she said: “Big thank you to Harris Reed, Louis Vuitton and The Queens Haus – Vivienne Westwood for the most stunning clothes for me to sing my ‘I’m a hot mess’ song in!”
In perhaps the biggest visualisation of the breakdown of her marriage and her rebirth, a chair is set alight near the end of the song- with eagle-eyed fans noticing how she had sung from a chair in Hometown Glory, Rolling In The Deep and Easy On Me.
One wrote: ‘She’s burnt the chair, she’s moving on’, while another viewer added: ‘Adele burning the chair she was sitting on for the last music vids’.
Adele, 30, and director Sam Brown, who worked with her previously in the Rolling In The Deep music video, drew upon religious undertones to coincide with the title of her single.
Adele wears a pellegrin clerical cape above a ballgown to sing in front of a halo for one look, before wowing in an off-the-shoulder red dress holding an apple.
A huge python also features in one scene, intertwining itself around her chair while in others acrobats perform stunts and dance around the singer.
The star gushed over her pal director Sam for creating such a masterpiece: “’I got to work with Sam Brown again for ‘Oh My God’ who directed the ‘Rolling In The Deep’ video!
“So to collaborate together again a decade later was nostalgic to say the least. The attention to detail from the crew was borderline hilarious – thank you so much for your patience and pulling it all together it was a lot of fun.”
