BBC Breakfast star worries fans as he shares travel fears amid 'dangerous' storm

BBC Breakfast fans were left concerned for one weather presenter, as he shared his fears ahead of catching a flight.

Tomasz Schafernaker left his Twitter followers worried as he warned he is keeping a “VERY close eye” on the weather while taking a “quick, necessary trip” by plane.

The star took to the social media platform to post a picture from the airport window, showing a selection of planes gathered on the strip and a gorgeous orange sunrise over the horizon.

But, in contrast to the glorious sunshine, storm clouds were brewing.

Tomasz posted a sunrise emoji as he said: “Exactly the same as emoji. Quick, necessary trip this week.

“I’m keeping a VERY close eye on the forecast myself. Midweek onwards looks SO storm in UK and other parts of Europe… not ideal for travel.”

Concerned fans flocked to the comments section to share their concerns, with one writing: “Hope your journey goes okay Tomasz. This wet blustery weather is bad enough walking in, let alone flying in.”

“Safe travels Tomasz!” another well-wisher said.

As someone else posted: “Some models show Friday in particular has the potential to be very dangerous.”

“Safe travels. I hate this rough weather…” a fourth fan followed up.

It comes as two storms are headed our way – Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice.

The first is forecast to bring strong winds to northern parts of the UK, while strong winds will hit more southern areas from Friday with Eunice.

Northern parts of the country could also see snow later on in the week.

Elsewhere on BBC Breakfast on Tuesday (February 15) regular weather presenter Carol Kirkwood was left red-faced as Jon Kay aimed a crude fart joke at her.

The sound of a strong gust of wind could be heard through Carol’s microphone as she finished up her report, as Jon quipped: “Complete with sound effects there – we just got a little burst of wind from your microphone.”

Laughing, Carol fired back: “I’m glad you said it was on my microphone!” – hinting that Jon implied it was coming from somewhere rather more unsavoury.

“In the air, yes!” Jon reassured her as he and co-host Nina Warhurst collapsed into giggles. “Thank you very much indeed.”

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
