Dragons’ Den star Drew Cockton has died suddenly aged 36.

The businessman triumphed on the BBC show last year after scooping a whopping £50,000 investment for his company from tycoon Touker Suleyman.

His devastated mum Kate confirmed the heartbreaking news on Sunday (October 23) in a Facebook post, saying: “We are truly, utterly heartbroken to have to tell you that our beloved.

“Drew Peter George Cockton (my gorgeous boy) died peacefully at home yesterday.

“We are devastated beyond belief. Life is never, ever going to be the same again. Rest Peacefully darling boy.”

Dozens of tributes have since been paid online to the LGBTQ campaigner.

One person wrote: “Drew touched so many lives with his kindness & I know we are all broken by this sad news”

Another added: “So very sad – my condolences to his mum, his family and to his many friends. A truly inspirational young man.”

Drew started his vegan fragrance brand Owen Drew from his kitchen table at home six years ago, making and selling candles on social media, Liverpool Echo report.

The firm now has its own premises in Birkenhead, producing natural soy wax candles, soy wax melts and luxurious room mists, with all the products made entirely by hand.

Drew impressed the Dragons after detailing his previous mental health issues, and explaining why these were the driving force behind the creation of his business.

Viewers watched as the Budding entrepreneur began by explaining to the Dragons how at the age of 22, he had opened a hotel business on Manchester’s Canal Street, quitting his job in financial services after he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

The news of Drew’s passing comes weeks after the death of Hilary Devey, who passed away in June aged 65.

Former Dragon Hilary died while in Morocco following a long battle with her health, her agent confirmed at the time.

The award-winning entrepreneur made her millions as the CEO and Chairman of Pall-Ex, the UK’s leading palletised freight distribution network.

Tributes poured in for the entrepreneur following the shock announcement.

Former Dragons’ Den star Theo Paphitis paid tribute on social media, writing: “So sad to hear of the passing of the lovely Hilary Devey.

“She left us all with some fantastic memories, may she rest in peace.

“My thoughts are with her family.”

Hilary has previously opened up about her health problems in the past after she suffered a stroke in 2009 which caused her to lose a portion of her brain.
