BBC Strictly fans slam 'cringey' performance which 'doesn't make sense'

Movie Week has kicked off on Strictly Come Dancing with a bang and the celebrities and the professionals have all put their best foot forward.

As Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal teased their track the duo was seen dancing in dinosaur outfits – but they didn’t stay out for very long as they went back to their usual outfits.

But even without the dinosaur outfits, Strictly Come Dancing viewers were not completely impressed as they branded the performance “cringey”.

The pair took to the dancefloor to perform the Rumba to the Jurassic Park theme tune as they slow danced together in a beautiful choreographed piece – but some felt the music wasn’t quite right.

Taking to Twitter one user wrote: “Didn’t feel that at all. Rumba to Jurassic Park theme? Sheesh.”

Another said: “As iconic as the Jurassic Park theme song is, not sure an instrumental really works?”

While a third wrote: “A rumba to the Jurassic park theme song is arguably more cringey than Ann Widdecombe being dragged across the floor.”

A fourth chirped: “There’s something very bizarre about a rumba to the Jurassic Park theme.”

However, despite the unexpected combination, some loved it, with one user writing: “I never thought you could dance to the theme song of Jurassic Park, but I enjoyed that!”

Another added: “OK, this is most definitely the most surprising thing I’ve seen all night. The stupid costumes are de rigour, but that was an unexpectedly good dance to Jurassic Park.”

While fans were left torn, the dance didn’t quite win over the judges either, with Craig Revel Horwood telling the pair: “It was too placed, there needed to be more flow in all of the transitions.

“I felt we needed the T-rex to come into it to put a bit of something into it. It was a bit dull I’m afraid.”

Craig then gave the pair a five, while Shirley Ballas gave a six and Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke both gave them a seven each.

The duo left with a total score of 25, though the public vote still needs to come in.

Strictly continues Saturdays at 6:30pm.
