Bill Bailey emotional as he says comedian pal Sean Lock 'left a huge gap in his life'

Bill Bailey appeared on Lorraine with stand in host Ranvir Singh and opened up about his best pal Sean Lock, who died of cancer in August 2021.

Former Strictly winner Bailey discussed his upcoming tour with Ranvir and the conversation quickly turned to his close friend Sean.

Lock, who was known for his stand up comedy and role as team captain on Channel 4’s 8 Out Of 10 Cats, passed last year and as the anniversary arrives, Bill is planning a walk in his honour.

The comedian seemed to tear up at the mention of his name and told Ranvir that Sean had “left a big hole in his life”.

The pair were best pals and “frequently spoke on the phone”

Sweet pictures of the dynamic duo flashed up on screen as Bill said that the walk would commemorate Sean and participants will tell stories about his life.

Ranvir asked him about the walk and Bill explained: “I’m going to be walking part of the south-west coast, a hundred miles, to commemorate Sean. It will be a year in August since he died. I can’t believe [where] the time has gone.”

Bill continued through teary eyes: “I will be walking with Sean’s family and friends, we’ll be telling stories, remembering him, celebrating his life.”

Bill will be taking part in a massive walk in Sean’s memory

Ranvir asked Bill what “makes him giggle when he thinks about Sean,” and Bill took a moment to reflect on their friendship.

He then told her: “He had a way of – he had these brilliant, sort of ‘mind pictures’ that he would create. He would take you down one alleyway, you’d think: ‘Oh, we’re going this way,’ then he’d just pull the rug on you. He had a unique comic mind. I miss him a lot.”

Bill admitted that the pair would “speak and text on the phone all the time,” which was “great” as he had someone to “bounce ideas off”.

Bailey said that the walk will be a “celebration” of Sean and will be held for Macmillan Cancer Support.

He is hoping to raise money for the charity whilst he and Sean’s loved ones take some time to reflect on the comedian’s life and career.
