Bonk-fest Bridgerton's most haunted locations explored as things go hump in the night

Saucy period drama Bridgerton is back – and it’s not only the sexy cast going bump in the night.

The second series of the popular Netflix drama dropped on Friday and has already been watched by millions.

There have been spooky goings-on at locations where the Netflix smash – which featured Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page romping in the first series and now has Jonathan Bailey as leading man – is filmed.

And it’s enough to keep Lady Whistledown busy with supernatural gossip!

Here Daily Star hunts down the Bridgerton ghosts who have put the willies up people over the years.

Bath’s Royal Crescent

Spectres are said to haunt the house which serves as the on-screen home of Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and her family.

The spirit of soprano Elizabeth Linley has been heard singing while going down the stairs at No 11 Royal Crescent.

In March 1772 Elizabeth and her lover Richard Brinsley Sheridan eloped without their families’ blessing to France.

Sights and sounds of four grey horses pulling a carriage at speed on the cobblestones in the middle of the night have also been reported.

Gentleman’s club scenes and the ball from episode four in series one was filmed in the Jacobean-style country manor.

It is said to be haunted by the spirit of Queen Elizabeth I, who grew up there.

She is said to loiter around the Old Palace gateway before vanishing into the churchyard.

A phantom carriage has also been seen in the grounds after dark as well as footsteps thought to belong to a noblewoman who burned to death in 1835 after knocking down a candle by accident.

Used in the second series to introduce some of the new leading ladies.

The ghost of Vice-Admiral Sir Thomas Masterman Hardy, a close pal of Lord Nelson and buried nearby, has been spotted.

A lady in white – thought to be a housekeeper still doing her duties after death – has also been reported as well as footsteps on staircases.

Brighton’s Theatre Royal

Filmed inside for a concert hall scene, the historic venue has a ghost known as The Grey Lady, thought to be Nye Chart, who ran the theatre with her husband between 1867 and 1892.

In 1976 an apparition of a woman in a grey chiffon dress was seen near the theatre’s doorway.

Joy Merta, who at the time ran the bar, recalled she wasn’t frightened as the ghost smiled at her.

Manager Brian Wren reported seeing three people dressed peculiarly in a box in the dress circle in the eighties as he was locking up one night.

Similar spots have been reported over the years until the last refurbishment in 2004 when it all went quiet.

Used in the show to represent some rooms of St James’ Palace, including the dining room where Queen Charlotte argues with King George III in episode five of season one.

The ghost of Lady Jane Grey, who was queen for nine days before being executed in 1554 at the Tower of London, has been seen wandering the grounds as recently as February 2019.

Syon House is thought to where she told she was to be Queen.

In 1973, a strange white light was reported to have followed a man from the Isleworth gate at the spot where the graves of seven nuns of Syon Abbey lay.

Used for a lavish ball scene, the largest 18th-century room in the city is said to be haunted by the spook of Admiral Arthur Phillip.

He was the first governor of New South Wales in Australia and founded the city of Sydney in 1788, but retired to Bath where he died in 1814.

Reports of seeing him in the same black hat and long cloak have been noted over the years.

Ranger’s House, London

This opulent Georgian villa on the edge of Greenwich Park was used as the outside of Bridgerton family home.

It is a monument to Admiral Francis Hosier, who led a disastrous naval action in the Caribbean in 1727 in which 4,000 men perished, including Hosier.

It had a ghoulish ballad written after it called Admiral Hosier’s Ghost.
