Britain’s Got Talent star Paul Potts is making a comeback an astonishing 15 years after his win in the ITV talent show.

The singer, 51, has released a new double CD album, named Musica Non Proibita, and plans to tour in February and March next year.

The tenor’s success on the TV show in 2007 earned him lucrative deals and enabled him to live his dream as a professional singer.

And he is still friends with the show’s judge Simon Cowell, 62, telling The Sun: “I had a good long chat with him at the final of America’s Got Talent : The Champions, and it is gratifying to have so much respect from him.”

“I don’t think I would change anything. I would tell myself to have a little more faith in myself, relax more.”

Paul added that his wife Julie, who he married in 2003, was his biggest supporter, saying: “Julz has always been by my side, and a good sounding board. She takes the Michael out of me, and I join in.

“Julz admires the work that has gone into it. Not all the music is to her taste – she’s a rock chick by heart – but she does like most of them.”

Paul describes his forthcoming tour, titled With a Song in my Heart, as “very personal,” and was inspired by singers in Italy during the pandemic.

He said: “Their lockdown was much stricter than our own and much was prohibited, but people found a way to ensure that music wasn’t one of them.

“During our lockdown, starting on Mother’s Day 2020, I did a daily performance for four months – a new song every day with an hour long performance every Sunday outside our home in Port Talbot.

Simon, 62, was on the panel when Paul took to the stage for his iconic audition, singing Nessun Dorma and wowing judges and audience members alike.

Paul added that he still watches his Britain’s Got Talent audition with Nessun Dorma, saying: “Sometimes people have questions about it, and I try to answer some of them, when I have a moment.”
