Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has revealed that Alina Pop returning to Weatherfield with Tyrone Dobbs’ child would be a “great storyline”.
Alina left Weatherfield last year after ending her relationship with Tyrone.
However, she kept it to herself that she was pregnant with his baby and the mechanic it still none the wiser.
Speaking to Daily Star and other press about Alina’s potential comeback, Alan said: “That’s a very clever thing the writers did there, sending her off in that way.
“Of course it leads into a future storyline but right now Tyrone’s thoughts are all about Fiz regardless of what kind of comes knocking on his doorstep.
“For me as an actor it would be a great storyline. Would it be soon? Probably but that could be something further down the line.
He added: “If that is a story in the future I’ll try and tackle it as best as I can.”
Tyrone left his long-term relationship with Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) after falling for Alina but things didn’t go to plan.
He now wants to win back Fiz but the factory worker has since found love with newcomer Phill Whittaker (Jamie McKenna).
Tyrone becomes suspicious of his love rival in upcoming scenes.
He calls at Phill’s house to collect Fiz’s things next week, hoping this now means he’ll be reunited with Fiz.
However, a row ensues and as Tyrone makes a grab for Phill, they lose their balance and fall headlong into the wet cement on the patio.
As Phill scours the wet concrete, he reveals that he’s lost an engagement ring.
Tyrone finds the ring and Phill goes on to asks Fiz to marry him.
As Tyrone waits in the wings, will Fiz give Phill another chance or have her eyes been opened?
Speaking about the battle over Fiz, Alan said: “I think over the last 18 months Tyrone has certainly realised everything that he’s had and everything he’s lost.
“He recognises Fiz is his soulmate and he’ll do anything to win her back but also anything to make her happy, whatever that might be.”
Fans will have to wait and see if Fiz agrees to marry Phill or if she decides to go back to Tyrone.
