Coronation Street fans are sure they’ve spotted something which could change the dynamic of the street completely – and could make Stu a rich man indeed.
Some eagle-eyed viewers are sure that the late villain Geoff Metcalfe could have left a rather hefty bag of money at the house he shared with wife Yasmeen, after stealing from her for months on end.
And with formerly homeless Stu currently living under Yasmeen’s roof, some think he could be set to find the bag of cash, which could make him very rich.
Abuser Geoff was keen for his wife to save the pennies where she could, cutting down on food and cleaning costs while racking up big bills on escorts and expensive dinners for himself.
So it makes sense that the money he stole from her Speed Daal business would have to end up somewhere.
And after a throwaway comment made by Kelly Neelan on Monday’s (February 7) episode, things look even more likely to kick off.
As Stu said he had a surprise for Kelly, she joked: “Oh, are you gonna ping me a grand? Lovely, thanks!”
Stu chuckled: “Oh, I wish!”
But could a windfall be coming his way? One fan certainly seems to think so, as they shared: “My 75-year-old father very begrudgingly watches Corrie with me. He has convinced himself of a theory about Geoff.
“As we all remember, Geoff stole money from Yasmeen. While they explained away some of it being spent on another woman, they didn’t really account for all of it.
“He is convinced that it is hidden in Geoff’s magic gear which has never been mentioned to have been removed from the attic.
“He has been bugging me to present this theory to all of you for some time now. So share your thoughts!”
Another quickly agreed: “Wasn’t he sticking cash in a Jiffy bag at one point? In Yasmeen’s little admin cupboard. Don’t remember it being in the magic gear though!”
And someone else replied: “It’s not a bad idea at all. Since Stu is staying in Yasmeen’s attic, he may very well find it!”
A fourth wondered: “I like it… but the money was in the same bag as the one Zeedan was using? Didn’t Yaz confront them with the bag at one stage or am I dreaming that?”
Another was quick to point out that this was just Hashim’s money – taken when he suffered a heart attack and died in front of Alya and Zeedan.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:30pm on ITV.
