Coronation Street just hasn’t been the same without soap stalwart Becky McDonald – but she could soon be back after an entire decade.
Actress Katherine Kelly, who starred as Becky for an incredible six years, took to Instagram to post a rather cryptic snap of her posing in the doorway of Roy’s Rolls on the Corrie set.
All in all, Katherine appeared in 704 episodes of the iconic ITV soap as Becky, involved in plenty of storylines including a custody battle with her sister Kylie over Max, her wedding to Steve and almost dying in a fire.
Becky eventually departed the street with Danny Stratton and headed for Barbados – but, as her character was never killed off, she could return.
Since her Corrie stint, the actress has gone on to have an incredible TV career, starring in shows like Mr Selfridge, Happy Valley and Liar.

She could be seen with the door ajar wearing a floor-length red off-the-shoulder gown, with her hair piled atop her head in a classy bun as she looked out of the door for something – or someone.
In another snap, Katherine could be seen wandering down the cobbled street outside the Rovers Return in another floor-length gown – this time a silver halter-neck number emblazoned with silver chains, holding a metallic clutch bag.
The length of her incredible skirt meant Katherine had to pick them up with one hand as she traversed her way carefully along the street.

However, the reason behind the snap soon became clear, as Katherine was celebrating a whole decade since leaving the show.
She captioned her Instagram snap: “A decade* ago… she flew away @coronationstreet @itv.”
Her former co-star Catherine Tyldesley, who played Eva Price on the cobbles, was first to hop into the comments section to post a row of heart-eyed emojis.
As one fan begged: “Please fly back!”

And someone else followed up: “The street needs Becky!”
“And now she’s flying back?” another fan wondered, while a fourth penned: “Forever waiting for her return!”
Someone else posted: “Wouldn’t it be fab if Becky came back!”
Katherine has spoken out on a possible return to Corrie in the past, explaining in 2013: “I’ve always said I would love to pop back to Coronation Street but I don’t think it will ever logistically be possible.
“Isn’t that sad?”
She went as far as to say it would be a “bitter disappointment” to revisit the character of Becky earlier this year, admitting: “That character was very much of her time and I think, in all honesty, she would be a bitter disappointment to revisit.
“I would hate for her to be spoiled in any way, because it was such a perfect character, at a perfect time. Becky’s better left with a fondness.”
