Coronation Street star Kimberly Hart-Simpson has opened up about her surprising gig away from the cobbles.
The 35-year-old actress returned to the ITV show as sex worker Nicky Wheatley earlier this year, having previously exited the soap in September 2020.
In her downtime away from Weatherfield, Kimberly has taken on a surprising side-hustle.
The pansexual star recently revealed that she has been volunteering at a British Heart Foundation store since October.
Kimberly told the Mirror: “I’ve gone to their shops near me for years, not just to shop but to chat with the staff because I became friends with them.
“The charity have done a big volunteering drive as the numbers of shop volunteers they had fell after lockdown, so I’ve been doing it around my schedule and it’s become a home from home to me.
“I often tend to stick downstairs in the stockroom where I can rummage through the donations and steam them to prep them for sale, but I have worked on the shop floor as well and it’s lovely chatting to customers coming in.
“You meet the best people.”
Kimberley’s affinity for charity shop buying is well-documented on her Instagram page, with the actress recently picking up a bargain dress.
Earlier this month, she flaunted her stunning £18 evening dress to fans on Instagram.
Kimberly wrote in a caption: “If we all for at least one of our events this summer make a pact that we will source an outfit from our local charity shop (which by the way sell designer dresses like this one at a fraction of the price) we can make a huge impact in many ways.”
She later added: “Discount dancing is the new move!”
Kimberly is no stranger to getting her hands dirty, having held down a number of jobs before launching her acting career.
The actress was previously a manger at McDonalds and has also worked at gym brand Fitness First.
Before landing her life-changing Corrie role, the actress got her break in TV shows including Mount Pleasant and Hollyoaks.
