Dancing on Ice fans spot 'tension' between Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield

Dancing on Ice fans certainly do not miss a trick, that’s for sure as they highlighted an awkward moment between hosts Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield on-air.

The pair seemed to get off to bad footing when Phillip attempted to hand over to his on-screen partner a tad too early on Sunday’s show (February 27).

Phillip had been chatting away to the contestants who had taken part in the prop-themed show when he blurted: “Over to Holly,” which prompted a tense response.

With his co-star not quite ready yet, she whispered in response: “No!”

At this point the This Morning host noticed his slip up and averted to a clip of next weekend’s programme instead.

After the VT had rolled, Holly was spotted in the audience speaking with the friends and families of the celebrity contestants.

Although Holly and Phil are absolute professionals on camera, not even the dynamic duo could gloss over the mishap, as fans raced to social media to call them out.

One fan wrote: “Also the tiny ‘…no!’ from Holly when Phil tried to pass to her at the wrong time.”

A second said: “Haha, even the veteran presenters can mess up sometimes!”

“Phil will be raging that Holly said no to him. She’ll get sacked,” added a third.

While a fourth pointed out: “Feels like tension between Holly and Phil on Dancing on Ice. Their former chemistry appears to be missing [in my opinion].”

Meanwhile, Phillip recently had to skip an episode of Dancing on Ice after he’d tested positive for Covid-19.

As a result Catchphrase star Stephen Mulhern was asked to step in as his replacement which led to widespread calls for him to take over permanently as they adored his longstanding on-screen relationship with Holly.

Holly and Stephen had an instant chemistry as they’d worked together on children’s TV together decades before.

In their usual format, fans took to social media to beg producers to let Stephen stay on the programme.

“Can Stephen replace the Schofield on a permanent basis??!!” penned one.

“Can we keep @StephenMulhern please,” begged a second.

Dancing on Ice airs on Sundays at 6.30pm on ITV and ITV Hub
