Emmerdale’s producer Jane Hudson was told off by Gabby Thomas star Rosie Bentham for ‘forgetting’ how old she is.
The ITV soap boss told Daily Star about the struggle to ‘grow up’ the younger cast members on the soap – many of whom have been around since they were babies.
Gabby was originally played by Annelise Manojlovic between 2001 and 2015, before Rosie stepped in to deal with Gabby’s more mature storylines – including having an affair with Jamie Tate and birthing his child, Thomas.

Rosie is 21, with Gabby set to turn the same age later this month.
And Jane faced a telling off from the actress after forgetting how old her character was.
Speaking to Daily Star and other press, she confirmed: “A lot of our younger cast have got stories coming up. You get to a point with the young cast when you suddenly realise they’re growing up.
“They’ve been off-screen for a few weeks and they appear and they’re a foot taller and their voice is deeper and you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, we need to start growing them up in the show’.
“For Rosie [Bentham], who plays Gabby, we kept her at 15 for about three years. She eventually went, ‘You do know my character is 18?’ And I thought, oh my gosh yeah we need to grow you up.”
Gabby has another big storyline coming up as she falls for new nanny Nicky, played by Lewis Cope.
Speaking about her new romance, actress Rosie said: “She actually calls him ‘fit’ to his face. So I think Gabby’s intentions are very clear straight away.”

Lewis added: “When Nicky was 16, his mam passed away. He’s the oldest of six, and he’s basically looked after the kids and stuff growing up, so he had a lot of experience with kids. That’s what got him into nannying.”
Not everyone was quite as head over heels as Gabby, however.
He added: “But not everyone was on board in the interview. Dawn has a big problem with leaving the kids, so she was very particular on the type of person she wanted, so she was the hardest to win over.”
