Actress Lisa Allen has been revealed as a new character called Lesley in Emmerdale – but how much do you know about the soap’s latest star?
Despite making her first appearance as Lesley in a recent episode of the soap, Lisa Allen already had a role in Emmerdale as a policewoman in a previous episode before joining as a recurring character.
That’s not all, as Lisa has also appeared in other rival soaps, including Coronation Street, where she played Nurse Madge Hingle and Heartbeat as Wendy Fairchild.
Along with roles in Waterloo Road, Fred and Rose: The Final Betrayal and DCI Banks, Lisa has been a familiar face on our screens for many years – but it seems her Emmerdale appearance has already got fans talking.
After Lisa made her debut as Lesley in Emmerdale at the beginning of the month, many fans of the soap believe that she may actually be the mum of teenager Amelia Spencer.
Amelia’s mum Ali was in the ITV soap from 2011 until 2015, and was killed off in an off-screen car crash in April 2018, with her son Sean breaking the tragic news to her family.
However on May 30, Faith Dingle headed off for her first chemotherapy appointment since revealing her breast cancer had returned, and as she settled into the chair, a woman named Lesley entered with her son.
Lesley struck up conversation with Faith – with viewers at home spotting that Lesley had an uncanny resemblance to Amelia, and predicting that she could be her real mum.
One fan said on social media: “Does anyone else think that the chemotherapy patient in tonight’s episode looked like Amelia? Wondered if she could be her mum. Her name wasn’t showing in credits.”
A second also added: “Probably just an extra although she did have a speaking part which is unusual for extras!”
While Lesley’s identity is yet to be revealed, actress Lisa Allen will be returning to Emmerdale from June 27 – so viewers will not have long to wait to see if their predictions are right.
Away from Emmerdale, Lisa Allen is also currently filming the new Disney+ series The Full Monty, where she will play Kath alongside actors from the original film including Robert Carlyle and Hugo Speer.
That’s not all, as the talented soap star is also a trained cabaret singer and mezzo-soprano, according to her Spotlight profile.
Along with theatre roles in productions such as Horrible Histories: The Terrible Tudors, Brassed Off and All The World’s A Stage, Lisa Allen certainly seems to be one to watch as she prepares to make her Emmerdale entrance later this month.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV at 7.30pm
