Showbiz royalty Gemma Collins reckons she’s become more “Aldi than Gucci” in life.
The GC is the UK’s Queen of reality TV and has earned her crown thanks to headline-grabbing appearances on TOWIE, I’m A Celeb, Celebrity Big Brother and Dancing On Ice.
But the fan favourite claims to be more down-to-earth and less of a demanding diva after finding inner peace aged 40.

Opening up in our EXCLUSIVE chat Gemma, now 41, said: “People think I shop in Harrods every day but I’m much more your Aldi and Lidl kind of girl.
“Don’t get me wrong I still love the glitz and glamour but I’m much happier at home in the country doing my gardening.
“I have gone through times in my life when I felt really unfulfilled.
“When I went to Gucci and canned the card.
“I have stayed in the best hotels and chased fame. But you realise there is more to life than that.
“I honestly get more pleasure from staring at a tree these days, growing my own veg or going for a walk.”
Since finding fame on TOWIE in 2011 Gemma has become one of the country’s most recognisable faces.
She has earned millions appearing on a string of shows including; Splash, Celebs Go Dating and her own reality series Gemma Collins: DIVA.
But Gemma, who is engaged to businessman Remi Hawash, says she much prefers the simple life nowadays.
Chatting to promote her fashion collaboration with New Look Gemma said: “I spent 10-years working non-stop and burning myself into the ground. I almost killed myself.
“Showbiz is a business and you have to learn how to navigate the bullet basically.
“If you think it is real life you lose yourself.
“Don’t get me wrong, I would never retire because I still love it. But now I can dip my toe in and out when I want.
“I am much happier growing plants and vegetables in my garden. I’m not just saying that. I really am.
“If I want a salad for dinner I go into the garden and dig up lettuce and some beetroot and onions. I’ll pick some tomatoes.
“Yes you have to wash the mud off them and there’s bugs on them but they taste so much fresher. “
A candid Gemma admits she has finally found inner peace after years of chasing fame, trying to lose weight, find love and get pregnant.
She said: “I am peaceful, happy and fulfilled now.
“I honestly don’t feel like there is anything missing from my life. I wake up every day and my cup is full. If I died tomorrow I would have lived an amazing life.”
There’s one ambition Gemma still has though – to have her own market stall.
She laughed: “I love going to my local market and seeing the traders trading. I get a real buzz out of it.
“I actually would love to get a market stall and sell my clothes there.
“Maybe one day in the future. I honestly would love it. I am an old school seller.
“Selling is in my blood. I used to sell cars. I think if you can make a tenner then make a tenner.”
Talking about her New Look fashion collection Gemma added: “It’s a dream come true. It’s my mission to make all women feel amazing in clothes.
“New Look understands that just because you are a bigger girl you don’t necessarily just want to wear black.”
Gemma’s New Look collection is out now.
