Hollyoaks' Romeo quits village in sad scenes as Owen Warner opens up on work struggle

Hollyoaks favourite Romeo Nightingale (Owen Warner) has left the village.

The hunky villager told his sister Juliet Nightingale (Niamh Blackshaw) about his departure plans during Friday’s (December 16) first-look episode on E4.

Fans of the Channel 4 soap are aware that Romeo’s girlfriend Theresa McQueen (Jorgie Porter) decided to move back to Spain in recent scenes.

Romeo has been missing his beau and decides to follow her to spend some time together in the Spanish sunshine.

He told Juliet: “I heard from Theresa last night. I’ve been texting her a little bit and she’s invited me to Spain.”

She asked: “Are you going to go?”

Romeo replied: “Yeah, unless there’s a reason not too.”

Juliet insists: “No, you should go. You’ll have an amazing time.

He said: “Nice one Jules, I’ve got to figure how i’m going to tell Prince and Olivia I’m not going to be at the wedding but it’ll be calm surely.

“I’ve got to follow my heart ain’t I.”

Romeo actor Owen Warner took a break from Hollyoaks last month to appear on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.

He came runner-up with England Lioness Jill Scott being crowned winner of the gruelling reality show.

Owen recently appeared on This Morning to discuss returning to Hollyoaks after spending weeks in the Australian jungle.

The soap star explained: “I was on set the other day and I was literally there doing lines and I was like, ‘Mate did that even happen?’

“I was straight back into work.”

Host Alison Hammond also asked if Owen had any trouble returning to the routine of learning his lines for the TV show, and he confessed that at first things weren’t “sticking”.

“I was a bit rusty when I came back because usually I’m fine with learning lines, I read a page once or twice and it’s in my brain,” Owen said.

“But I came back and I read it once or twice and it wasn’t sticking!”

Romeo is set to return to the village in the new year.

Hollyoaks now streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with first look episodes at 7pm on E4
