Jennifer Aniston supports Friends co-star after Kanye’s 'racist and ignorant' rant

Jennifer Aniston, 53, has shown her support for her Friends co-star David Schwimmer following his response to Kanye West’s anti-semitic statements.

On Tuesday (October 11), David – who played Ross in Friends – shared his thoughts about how “anti-semitism is on the rise globally”.

The 55-year-old star condemned Kanye – who legally goes by the name Ye – for his recent anti-semitic tweet calling him a “bigot”.

Though the comments were turned off on the post, he amassed more than 250,000 likes for it, including one from pal Jennifer.

On Saturday (October 8), in a since-deleted tweet, Kanye tweeted: “I’m a bit sleepy tonight, but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE.

“The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because Black people are actually Jew also. You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”

Since the rant, a Twitter spokesperson has confirmed that the rapper’s account has been locked, stating: “The account in question has been locked due to a violation of Twitter’s policies.”

Actor David took to his Instagram page a few days after and shared a photo which read “bYE” in a nod to Kanye’s preferred name, Ye.

David took to the platform to remind his followers of the ongoing marginalisation Jewish people have faced for decades.

His caption read: “Jews make up only 2.4% of the population of the US but are the victims of more than 60% of all religious hate crimes.

“Whether or not Kanye West is mentally ill, there’s no question he is a bigot. His hate speech calls for violence against Jews. If you interpret his words any other way and defend him, guess what? You are racist.

“If we don’t call someone as influential as Kanye out for his divisive, ignorant and anti-semitic words, then we are complicit.”

All Of Me singer John Legend, a former friend of Kanye, was also critical of the anti-Semitic rant.

He tweeted: “Weird how all these ‘free, independent thinkers’ always land at the same old anti-blackness and anti-Semitism.”
