Joe Lycett has doubled down on his David Beckham plea as he “doesn’t want to shred £10k”.
The comedian, 34, previously announced via Instagram video that he would put £10,000 in a shredder unless the football icon, 47, steps down as Qatar’s World Cup ambassador or donates his fee to LGBTQ+ charities.
Beckham is reportedly being paid around £10million in the deal, which has been met by criticism due to human rights issues in the Middle Eastern country, as well as its laws regarding homosexuality.

Posting to Twitter on Wednesday (November 16), Joe shared with his followers an email he claimed to have sent to Beckham’s representatives.
Joe wrote in a caption alongside the long note: “An email to Beckham’s PR. Less than four days to go.”
He also used the hashtag “#benderslikebeckham”.
Joe’s email saw him ask whether there is a “any chance” Beckham may take up his request to step down as a World Cup ambassador, having “not heard a peep from” the Saving Our Squad star.
Referring to his pledge as “a pickle”, Joe wrote: “I’ve been a bit daft and publicly announced that I’m going to shred £10k on Sunday if David doesn’t end his relationship with Qatar, or donate the cash to LBGTQ+ charities if he does, yet we’re nor four days out and I haven’t heard a peep from him.
“Could you do me a solid and let me know if there’s any chance he might budge on his position, or am I to expect radio silence on this?
“I really don’t want to shred 10 grand!!!”
Imploring the retired footballer to “do the right thing” and touching on Qatar’s “appalling human rights record”, Joe later added: “I also really don’t want a national treasure that has historically supported the LGBTQ+ community to publicly endorse and advertise a nation state that has an appalling human rights record and has the death penalty for gays – call me old fashioned!!!!!!
“There’s still time for David and his team to do the right thing.”
Joe concluded his email by saying he is happy to speak with David or his reps at “any time they find convenient”.
He later sent his “best wishes” before signing off with a a rainbow emoji, representative of the LGBTQ+ flag colours.
David Beckham has until the World Cup kicks off on Sunday, November 20 to respond to the request.
Alongside Joe’s criticism of the star’s involvement with the Qatar World Cup, comedian Russell Kane recently questioned Beckham’s motives to take on the job as ambassador – suggesting he “doesn’t need the money”.
