Married At First Sight star reveals secret music career with Professor Brian Cox

Married At First Sight star Richie Dews has opened up about his hidden music career with none other than famous scientist Professor Brian Cox.

During Thursday’s instalment of the hugely popular Channel 4 dating show, fans were introduced to the newest batch of sexy singletons looking to find love by marrying a complete stranger.

As they were introduced to the two new couples, fans couldn’t help but recognise one of the eldest members of the series – and it turns out the Sheffield sales assistant used to be in quite the famous band back in the day.

Before the 51-year-old discussed what he was looking for in a partner, he opened up about his previous music career which saw the singer travelling all over the country to perform in front of live audiences.

The musician revealed he used to perform in a band called Dare which he formed with his close friends back in 1985 alongside Brian Cox who played the keyboard, Brian Drawbridge who played the bass guitar and Julian Gardner on the drums.

His band gained local notoriety in and around Oldham and went on to sign a four-year deal with A&M where they produced their debut album Out of the Silence which was released in 1988.

Richie has spent more than 23 years in the music industry and has worked with a number of famous faces through the years, including his famous band member and even wrote a feature song with Russell Watson.

The singer is set to take the plunge with his new bride after he tied the knot to Laura Eyre but this isn’t the first time that the star has appeared on a dating show in an effort to find love.

Back in 2011, Richie appeared on the hugely popular ITV dating show Take Me Out hosted by Burnley native Paddy McGuinness where he won over the heart of 26-year-old Natasha Tyers.

The happy couple were flown to Tenerife for the show but the Sheffield United fan struggled to make things work with the lucky lady where they decided to go their separate ways.

But the TV star wasn’t willing to give up that easily, as he returned for a second stint for the 10th anniversary episode in February 2018.

However the reality star still failed to find love on the show, which has led him to seek advice from relationship experts Paul C Brunson, Mel Schilling and Charlene Douglas.
