Marvin Humes has revealed his secret to maintaining a happy marriage with doting with Rochelle Humes is to make time to do “normal things.”
The JLS star, 37, and The Saturdays singer, 33, have been together for more than 12 years and married for over a decade.
They now share three beautiful children together, Alaia-Mai, eight, Valentina Raine, four, and Blake Hampton, one, and continue to thrive in showbizness.
As the doting dad caught up with Daily Star and other publications at Captial FM Summertime Ball with Barclaycard on Sunday (June 12), he confessed the pair maintain their loving relationship by making time for each other.
He said that the happy couple – who first met back in 2005 when Rochelle was just 16-years-old – would be together whether or not they were in the same line of work or not.
Marvin explained: “I think for us we appreciate our luck and I’m just lucky that I’m with someone I love and I’m best friends with.
“Just because we’re in the same industry, that doesn’t mean anything. For us, we met and we could have been in other jobs and we would have still been together.”
He went on to admit that he couldn’t think of any one thing that made their relationship iron-strong but emphasised that making time for each other was important in their household.
The singer added: “I don’t know what the secret is to be honest. We just do normal things and go on date nights and stuff.
“We’ve got three amazing kids. We’re mum and dad, husband and wife, and we’re friends and it’s like…I dunno, we just sort of make it work – touch wood.”
It comes as the power couple prepare to renew their wedding vows as they approach their 10th wedding anniversary.
For the loving parents, it means their three children will be able to be a part of their big day following their wedding ceremony back in 2012 which took place at Blenheim Palace.
In an interview with The Sun, Marvin said their decision is about “celebrating” and “most importantly for the kids.”
The presenter explained: “Our kids look at our wedding pictures and are like, ‘Why wasn’t I there?’ especially Alaia, our eldest. We are like, ‘Darling you weren’t even born’.
“For us it would be great for the kids to see us get married and obviously they will be a big part of the day as well.
“We are definitely going to do it but we don’t know where and to what level yet. But that’s on the card to celebrate ten years to renew our vows and almost do our wedding again.”
However, he warned fans that this time around “it’ll definitely be more low-key” compared to their “big, big bash” in 2012.
