Masked Singer bosses hail Doughnuts 'breakout star' as popularity soars

Britain has gone totally nuts for Doughnuts as Masked Singer chiefs say the TV character has become their most popular star ever.

The celebrity hiding behind the mask has proved you don’t need to be “pitch perfect” to survive in the contest.

Show chief Dan Nettleton said: “Doughnuts is a breakout star. We have never had someone with his singing ability get so far as he has got so far. This is a new thing for series three.”

Doughnuts is now among the remaining seven mystery celebrities on the ITV show.

The judges and fans are convinced it’s a footballer in the costume with guesses such as Michael Owen, Gary Lineker, Robbie Fowler and Alan Shearer.

Fans are loving Doughnut on this series of The Masked Singer

On tonight’s edition of the ITV show at 7pm, two celebrities will be unmasked.

The show’s presenter Joel Dommett has said that despite everyone’s eager speculation, there are still two celebrities that no one has guessed yet.

He told The Mirror: “Some people are saying online, and I think I agree, they have made it harder obviously on purpose because in the last few series people were getting names maybe a little bit early.”

Viewers have been trying their hardest to rumble Doughnut’s identity

“There are a few names that people are definitely not getting. I’m not seeing these names at all. The final is amazing and one of the names I am very excited about,” he said.

He also shared his experience with the general public as the competition starts to heat up, saying that he has had people try and bargain with him to reveal the celebrity’s identities.

The clues are a lot harder to figure out this series

He has also admitted that once the show is over he tries to forget about it so he doesn’t ruin the show: “I try as a rule to never say the name of anyone who is in the mask once I have left the studio. I try to block the show out of my mind.”

So far Heather Small, Gloria Hunniford, Will Young, Pat Cash and Tom Chaplin have been revealed in this series which has made fans question the clues.

Many fans think that the Masked Singer bosses have deliberately made the costumes, sets and hints more difficult to decipher to make the show more entertaining for viewers.
