Nicholas Cage has revealed that his first child with wife Riko Shibata will be a baby girl.
The 58-year-old actor announced the news during his appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Thursday (April 21), saying: “I’m gonna have a little girl.”
Cage also revealed that he and Shibata, 27, are going to name the child after The Beatles star John Lennon.
Their daughter is set to be called Lennon Augie, Lennon after the late singer-songwriter and Augie after Cage’s late father August Coppola.
Explaining the name, Cage recalled how his father – a DJ who worked in radio – would often play tunes from The Beatles’ album Let It Be.
Across The Universe was a particular favourite, he added, and has now become Cage’s “favourite song ever written”.
He said: “Because of Across The Universe, her name is gonna be Lennon Augie, Augie after my father. I’m thrilled. It’s going to be the biggest adventure of my life.”
The actor added that he and Shibata expect to call the girl “Lenny for short”.
The news of Cage and Shibata’s first child broke in January.

The Con Air star already has two other kids from older relationships, 31-year-old Weston Coppola Cage (who he shares with Christina Fulton) and 16-year-old Kal-El Coppola Cage (from his third marriage with Alice Kim).
Japanese-born Shibata and Cage were reportedly introduced by a mutual friend in her home country.
The couple were first pictured together in February 2020 when Cage took her to visit a tomb he’d bought for himself in New Orleans, Louisiana, US.
After they went public, she first appeared on the red carpet for the release of his film Pig in July 2021.
Shibata is credited as ‘Mannequin Woman’ in Cage’s 2021 film Prisoners of Ghostland, an action thriller filmed in Japan from November 2019.
