A new Channel 4 documentary, Porn King: The Rise and Fall of Ron Jeremy, takes an in-depth look at the adult film industry and explores the alleged abuse that female performers suffered at the hands of the world’s most prolific porn star — Ron Jeremy.
Ron’s career in the porn industry spanned over 40 years and he was one of the biggest names in adult films, appearing in thousands of movies.
But in recent years he has faced a series of allegations of sexual assault and rape.
As the documentary takes a look at his rise and fall, here’s where Ron Jeremy is now.
Where is Ron Jeremy now?
Ron Jeremy has been accused of sexual assault on a number of occasions over the years.
In 2020 he was arrested and has been held in custody at the Twin Towers jail in Los Angeles.
Jeremy has been indicted on 34 charges that range from forcible rape to assault of girls as young as 15.
The alleged crimes date back to 1996.
He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Jeremy’s trial was scheduled to begin in May 2022, but in March the case was suspended following a mental health evaluation.
The former porn star had reportedly appeared incoherent and failed to recognise his own lawyer.
He currently remains in jail on $6.6m (£4.81m) bail.
Why was Ron Jeremy charged?
Ron Jeremy is one of a small number of men, along with Harvey Weinstein, who have been subject to an investigation by a Los Angeles District Attorney’s task force that was set up to investigate allegations of sexual abuse in Hollywood in the wake of the #MeToo movement.
Speaking about the task force, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said that “far too often, survivors of sexual assault suffer in isolation”.
He added: “We must ensure that survivors have all options available to help with recovery, including trauma-informed services for healing and support to report such crimes.”
To avoid a public preliminary hearing that would have included witnesses testifying in open court, the LA County prosecutors obtained Jeremy’s indictment by presenting their case to a secret grand jury.
They used a similar tactic in Harvey Weinstein’s case.
