Piers Morgan’s new show Uncensored aired for the first time on TalkTV On Monday (April 25) with a surprise cameo from comedian Ricky Gervais.
In his opening segment, Piers, 57, revealed how he has received several messages of support from people ahead of the evening programme airing.
In the surprise video message, which aired ahead of the broadcaster’s highly publicised Donald Trump interview, Gervais appeared to wish the presenter “good luck” with his new series, which Morgan promises will “cancel cancel culture”.
The 60-year-old comedian said in the clip: ‘The producers of Piers Morgan’s new show contacted me and asked me if I’d like to be a guest. I said, “Definitely not”.
‘They said would you mind doing a quick video wishing him luck? I said, “Do I have to mean it?” They said “No”. I said “Good luck”.’
Piers jokingly described the video as “touching”.
Viewers were quick to denounce the Gervais video, with one calling it nearly the “worst thing he’s done this year”.
Broadcaster Nicky Clark then commented: “So far, so Piers Morgan Manifesto with an ironic video by Ricky Gervais.
“Thereby giving his fan base what they want, which is to flip cancel culture. But inoffensive enough not to enrage moderates.”
Elsewhere in the monologue, Piers compared himself to Nelson Mandela and took the opportunity to mock Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, referring to the Duchess of Sussex as ‘Princess Pinocchio’ alongside a graphic of her nose growing much like the Disney character.
He warned viewers that his new show would strictly be a ‘no cancel zone’.
‘My mission statement for this show is very simple – I’m going to cancel cancel culture,’ he said.
‘I’ll defeat this insidious, joyless societal scourge with those most effective of democracy-preserving weapons – common sense and truth.’
The broadcaster then went on to air the first part of his interview with Donald Trump, following a few days of tension between the two with the former US President fuming over a trailer of their chat showing him storming off.

The former President has since leaked an audio clip from his interview, in which his team repeatedly ask the TalkTV host to wrap up the exchange.
Morgan can also be heard telling Trump it was a “great interview” and Trump agrees.
The audio was shared as Morgan tweeted his claims of Trump storming out, though the leaked audio appears to contradict Piers’ claims.
