Sky News have issued clarification and an apology following a “disgraceful” Royal blunder that took place earlier today on live TV.
The news channel aired some aerial filming of a justice march for Chris Kaba – a 24-year-old Black man who was shot and killed by the Met Police on September 5 – but mixed it up with the Royal coverage.
Issuing an apology and a correction, the channel have now cleared things up and set the record straight.

In a statement from a Sky News spokesperson, they said: “We apologise for a mistake made earlier today which accidentally misidentified aerial pictures of a protest march for Chris Kaba as a large gathering paying tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.
“We have also issued a correction on air to clarify the footage previously shown.”
The mistake took place when the channel was airing at around 2pm this afternoon, the newsreader stated that the people on the march were mourning the death of the late Monarch while “sharing stories” and “making friends along the way”.
But viewers were quick to realise this was not the case, and the march was instead a racial equality rally for Chris Kaba.
At the time viewers flocked to Twitter to highlight the awkward mistake.
“I am lost for words. Sky News reporting the Justice for Chris Kaba march as a tribute walk for the Queen’s death. Disgraceful,” said one.
A second added: “People are marching to Scotland Yard to demand justice for #ChrisKaba, who was murdered last week by the Met police. Sky News tells viewers they are well wishers on the way to Buckingham Palace to pay tribute to the Queen.”
While a third fumed: “We marched for Chris Kaba today! We did not march for the Queen! @SkyNews you need to publicly apologise.”
The march was organised by Chris Kaba’s family, with people gathering this weekend at Parliament Square.
People on the march then walked through central London to Scotland Yard – to protest about how the 24-year-old man was shot and killed by a Met Police officer.
