Strictly Come Dancing recruit Kym Marsh branded herself a Cilla Black lookalike in a striking red wig as she wowed the judges with her impressive Charleston.

During the highly-anticipated Movie Week on the hugely popular BBC One dance competition, the Coronation Street star took to the stage with her professional dance partner Graziano Di Prima.

The dancing duo performed a joyful routine to If My Friends Could See Me Now from the hit film Sweet Charity.

But fans struggled to take their eyes off of her short red-hot wig which had been styled into a wig as she compared herself to the fiery late comic on the show.

As they left the ballroom and ran up to the dressing rooms, Claudia Winkleman congratulated her on her performance, saying: “You loved it – we could see it on your face.”

Kym admitted: “I loved every second of it even though I look like Cilla Black” before she gave a hilarious imitation of the late star.

Imitating her sweet scouse accent, Kym said: “I was trying to surprise everyone” as the celebrities erupted into laughter.

And it appears as though she wasn’t the only person who thought so after fans took to Twitter to poke fun at her bold new look online.

One user penned: “Kym’s wig is giving me Cilla and Lynda Bellingham. ICONS ONLY. #Strictly.”

Another added: “Ooooh she looks like Shirley MacLaine in that wig! Loved it. #Strictly.”

A third quipped: “Always pleased to see Sheridan Smith’s wig from ‘Cilla’ is still getting work #Strictly.”

Regardless of her questionable wig, the star came back to the ballroom fighting after she was awarded 34 by the star-studded judging panel.

Her energetic performance had audience members standing up applauding to the beat as they gave her a standing ovation after her stellar routine.
